During the individual Speed Duel, the former Formula One driver reached the grand final before finishing behind German stunt performer Rene Casselly. He then teamed with TV star Stefan Raab for the crew event. The pair slammed into a buoy, rising from the water to board the bike again. Schumacher’s sudden shoulder twist caused the dislocation, sending both men into the water a second time.
He declared on-air that the shoulder “was dislocated when I tried to turn the jet ski around so quickly.” Raab, initially unaware, urged help once the machine kept rolling. A medical team in the arena performed an immediate reduction, re‑inserting the joint and stabilising the injury.
Diagnosis, Recovery and Sky Duties
An X‑ray later that evening, followed by an MRI on Sunday, revealed not only the dislocation but also a fractured piece of bone. The six‑time Grand Prix champion will undergo a small surgical procedure to address the damage. He stressed that he remains fit to call the Italian Grand Prix in Monza from his left hand.
Schumacher posted gratitude on Instagram for the on‑site crew and the doctors at B‑G Klinikum Duisburg, thanking them for the swift intervention and expressing confidence that a short operation would see him back in Monza, “just holding my microphone with my left hand.” Yet he admitted he does not remember how the shoulder could have come loose, joking, “Pulling it out of the water, turning the jet ski around and dislocating your shoulder in the process – you’ve got to manage that first.”

Despite the injury, the former racer praised the event’s organisers, stating explicitly that they “are absolutely not at fault.” He echoed his willingness to return to future celebrity water‑sport contests, noting that, “If they do it again, I’ll definitely be there.”
