Final Fantasy XVI: PlayStation Announcement Suggests Temporary Exclusive to PS5

In the original presentation trailer there were already doubts about whether the title would come out on PC or not, but Square Enix later said it had “no more information.”

When Final Fantasy XVI was unveiled during the PlayStation 5 event, Square Enix released a first trailer signaling the game’s arrival on PC. However, that reference was removed a posteriori and the Japanese neither confirmed nor denied. They simply said that they had “no more information” to offer in this regard. Now, an official trailer published by PlayStation drops in its thumbnail that it is a temporary exclusive.

The video, which has been published on the PlayStation Brazil channel, specifies the following: “Final Fantasy XVI will not be available on other platforms for a limited time after its launch on PS5.” Therefore, we will have to wait to find out if the game is marketed on other systems after it goes on sale.

The case of Final Fantasy VII Remake

In the case of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix and Sony Interactive Entertainment signed a temporary exclusivity agreement, which ends on April 10. However, the Japanese have not yet announced whether or not they will publish it on other platforms. The only official thing is that the title will receive an improved and optimized version for PS5, which will have graphics and performance improvements. In addition, those who have the version of the previous generation will be able to update completely free of charge.

It should be noted that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, as this new version is called, will add a two-chapter expansion starring Yuffie, one of the classic characters from the old Squaresoft play. The story will take place at the same time as the events experienced by Cloud and company.

Final Fantasy XVI, meanwhile, takes us to a fantasy world that has succumbed to the forces of evil. The team of the fourteenth installment has written a story that is founded on power crystals, objects coveted by the most powerful, which sustain the delicate balance between the different kingdoms. No release date has been announced, but more details on the title will be forthcoming throughout 2021.
