Antonelli turned the 2024 season into history by capturing the Monaco Grand Prix as the youngest winner ever. The 19‑year‑old navigated a hectic start, a late safety car and a replayed finish to convert pole and retain his advantage, clocking the race’s fifth straight victory for Mercedes.
Russell’s battle against a points drought
After starting the season with triumph in Australia and a sprint victory in China, Russell has not added another point‑scoring finish in the first six races. Penalties and safety‑car interruptions damaged his effort in Japan, and a mechanical failure forced his retirement from the head of the Canadian Grand Prix.
