This 2019 has been a year where the democratization of hardware access in smartphones has been consolidated and Asians have taken a big step in this area with the Huawei Nova 5T. After more than a month of use we give you our impressions of this equipment.

The cameras
Definitely for the price range is one of those that best exploits artificial intelligence. In virtually zero conditions of light it gave us a magnificent result without exaggerating or over-exposing the scene.
With dim light we also obtained good results, although with slight distortions of color.

Outdoors it performs better with excellent color capture, even on cloudy days.

With normal light the results are close to what you can find in a high range.

The front camera, however, if it is fast, has no setbacks in terms of color balance when taking selfies.

To record video has a moderate performance, but contemplating the price point is the best there is in the market by allowing to record up to 4K at 30 fps with the rear camera and at 1080p at 30 fps with the front.

The screen
Within the offer of smartphones of this price range, the fact that it has a resolution of 1080 x 2340p with 412 ppi and that it is HDR with its 6.26 inches, position it even above devices such as the iPhone 11 or the Huawei P30 Pro. Amazon Prime or YouTube content can be enjoyed in high dynamic range at 1080p without setbacks, something that few offer within this segment.

Performance
When integrating the Kirin 980 processor, the multi task functions were executed without major setbacks, you can be listening to music in high resolution, browse and even run other applications without it being locked. We use it with the FreeBuds 3 and the Huawei Watch GT synchronized via Bluetooth at the same time, and the administration of the battery in demanding use gave for a whole day without charging. We also run Fortnite in epic quality at 30 fps and FreeFire without problem, so it can be considered by video players as an option.

It has 32-bit / 192kHz file reading support that in combination with LDAC compatible headphones give a premium experience wirelessly via bluetooth. As part of the trend, they have eliminated the 3.5 mm input, so you will have to use the adapter that is included.

Integrates 3750 mAh with an energy saving system based on usage behaviors thanks to its processor. In conditions of intensive use it supports a whole day and its fast charge gives you up to 50% just by connecting it for 30 minutes.

Peripherals and memory
To compensate for the 3.5 mm input, it integrates an adapter but a point where it falters is that you cannot extend the memory through cards. 128 GB are good, but it never hurts to have the possibility of increasing storage space. It also includes a transparent protector to keep the phone looking. It has the fingerprint reader on the side and it works quickly and you can even configure facial recognition, which works well in normal light conditions.

Design
One of the constants of Huawei is undoubtedly the design and this particular model has 3 colors:
- Black
- Crush blue
- Misummer Purple
The latter is definitely the most attractive in this range for the subtle NOVA logos that have tattooed on the surface, which give it a particular touch. Something that is appreciated is that the protector that it includes, allows to continue wearing it and saves us an additional expense.

OS
With EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 with a focus on graphics acceleration that is reflected in video games, the Huawei Nova 5T also integrates screen recording and wireless projection that is practical even for making presentations, as long as the devices are compatible. We use Google Assistant, Alexa, Hue spotlights and the Furbo camera, they all worked without major problem.

The Huawei Nova 5T is a smartphone that puts on the table features of a high-end hardware level with an enviable premium design, its performance definitely questions the value of a high-end equipment. If you are someone looking for a terminal that allows you to run demanding video games, take good pictures and even have the possibility to load your high resolution audio library, this is an option to consider.
