The ARCA Menard’s Series at Springfield Mile finished with 16‑year‑old Toyota development driver Max Reaves claiming the win after a late‑race drama.
Race Dominance and Incident
Reaves led 98 of the event’s 100 laps, controlling the dirt track in Springfield, Illinois.
With three laps to go, Gavan Boschele surged to the front, slicing through the field before contact at the next corner caused him to slide and drop back to fifth.
Reaves held off the chase for the final 1.5 laps, finishing 100 miles from the start of the to‑do where Isaac Kitzmiller placed second, Thomas Annunziata third, Taylor Reimer fourth and Boschele fifth.
Aftermath and Confrontation
After the checkered flag, Boschele displayed the middle finger to Reaves and attempted a confrontation in Victory Lane, but was restrained and later said, “F*** him” when escorted away.
Reaves replied on social media that the contact happened at turn 4 – “…I ran him down the straightaway. I’ve got to see the replay. I don’t know if I hit him going into Turn 1. If I did, my bad, but racing’s racing and we’re at a dirt track.”
Following the incident, Boschele posted, “If you can’t beat em wreck em, I’ll see everyone at DuQuoin… That’s gonna be some fun I’ll tell you that.” About the public reaction, Reaves noted the “most sound decibels we’ve gotten on the boo scale so far.”
Reaves’s victory at Springfield Mile adds a sixth career win to his growing résumé as a top prospect in the ARCA Menard’s Series.
