Jack Miller says talks with Yamaha about his 2027 future are progressing, hinting at a switch to the World Superbike Championship.
Negotiations with Yamaha
Miller confirmed that he is in active discussions with Yamaha, expressing a desire to stay with the Japanese manufacturer. He added that, “We’re talking with everybody and trying to understand what is the best step for me going forward.”
The rider highlighted his positive experience at Suzuka, noting that “I would not do that if I didn’t like working with the people.”
He stressed that while “there are some things to be sorted,” the talks continue “on a similar page” with Yamaha’s management.
Considerations for the next season
With Pramac expected to promote Izan Guevara from Moto2 to partner Toprak Razgatlioglu, Miller’s future in the satellite squad looks uncertain. No slot is anticipated for him in the 2027 line‑up.
Meanwhile, Yamaha is opening a production‑based seat, and Miller has been touted to replace Xavi Vierge. The Australian sees this as a potential new role in the manufacturer’s campaign.
Miller also weighed the tyre transition, noting that Michelin’s takeover of MotoGP’s tyre supply in 2027 could bring his Michelin experience to World Superbike’s newly Michelin‑sponsored track.
Future prospects and challenges
Despite claiming “the best I ever have” in MotoGP performance, Miller says Yamaha’s last two seasons have been “worst-performing.” He remarks on the difficulty of showcasing full potential on a less competitive package.
After leaving KTM two years ago, MotoGP facilitated a Yamaha deal that secured Australian representation. Miller now faces a similar predicament, admitting a “weird sense of fearing the write‑off” but also expressing confidence that “it’s coming.”
“We’re fortunate enough to do the jobs that we’ve done here and make the career I’ve built,” he added, while expressing excitement for the upcoming possibilities, whether within MotoGP or in the World Superbike arena.
