Jorge Martin Drops Arm Surgery After Dominant Austrian GP Performance

Jorge Martin shelves arm pump surgery idea after strong Austrian GP

World championship leader Jorge Martín has ruled out any immediate surgery for his recurring arm pump, a decision he confirms after a sound first‑half finish at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Arm Pump Recovery Evident After Austrian GP

Martin rode a physically demanding weekend in Austria, securing second place behind Pedro Acosta after a turbulent week that began with a blown race at Misano. “I felt super good straight away on Friday,” he says, “so either I’m riding better or the therapies are working well.” The rider’s body reportedly shows unmistakable signs of improvement, giving him confidence to stay out of the operating room for now.

“Either I’m better or all the therapies I’m doing are working well,” he notes, suggesting that rest and targeted treatments are yielding tangible results without resorting to medical intervention. The decision follows a week‑long stint in hospitals that left Martin cautious about any invasive procedure.

Martin Chooses Conservative Path Ahead of Asia‑Pacific Tour

Looking forward, the Spaniard remains upbeat about the prospect of four fire‑flyaway races before the Asia‑Pacific segment of the season. He stresses that the start of the campaign will be approached with “maximum focus” after the hard physical outings in Austria. “Going to surgery is a big risk,” the rider says, citing his history of injury‑stricken 2025 as the main deterrent.

The captain of the Aprilia Racing Team indicates he will monitor his condition closely: “At the moment I won’t go to surgery. I will check when is the moment to do the surgery, I will understand what is my best option.” Martin aims to keep his arm pump under control before making any surgical decisions, aligning his strategy with his championship aspirations.

Title Fight Continues With No Surgery Planned

With a 12‑point edge over Marc Marquez, Martín uses the current win to widen the gap in the standings. He remains determined to “take the maximum out of my condition and fight for this title.” The rider’s conservative approach ensures he stays tuned for the Japanese Grand Prix, where the season’s focus mounts on performance rather than recoveries.
