Jorge Martín missed a decisive slam‑in at Mandalika, slipping from the front to fourth in the Indonesian GP Sprint after a tyre‑pressure problem forced a mid‑lap pause.
Sprint start ignites disaster
Martin leapt from fifth on the grid into the lead after a chaotic opening corner saw Di Giannantonio, Márquez, Bezzecchi and Fernandez collide four‑wide. The chain reaction left Fernandez and Bezzecchi out of the race, clear for the Aprilia rider to widen a gap to Márquez.
Mid‑lap tyre dilemma forces retreat
With five laps remaining, officials warned Martín that his front tyre pressure was below the minimum. He let Márquez pass to avoid a penalty, then pulled back to a compliant pressure before re‑entering the attack. On the final lap he ran wide, handily conceding the sweep to Ai Ogura and Di Giannantonio. The slip cost him the championship lead, which Márquez now retains with a four‑point advantage.
Martin vows to cure the brake issue
“I almost had the win in my pocket,” Martín said. He stressed that the intended attack on the last lap was undone by an engine‑braking mishap. “I’ll work on the rear launch for tomorrow,” he added, indicating the focus will be on narrowly recovering the missed podium.
