Jorge Martin has declared that a single Grand Prix win could be enough to secure the 2026 MotoGP crown.
Championship Tally and Key Rivalry
After losing the points lead to Marc Marquez at Misano, Martin reclaimed the top spot in Austria and held it in Japan, trimming his advantage to just two points before the Mandalika race.
Throughout the season, Martin has spent over 100 days atop the standings, including a week when he and Marquez were tied on points. His Ducati teammates have completed a full set of sprint and main race victories from the last nine rounds, yet Martin remains the most consistent threat in the championship race.
Wake‑Up in Lombok and the Mandalika Challenge
Arriving in Lombok on a Monday, Martin said he was fit and recovered well from the Japanese weekend, but noted the heat could influence both rider and machine: “It’s very hot here, so we’ll see how the body and the bike react to this temperature.”
Mandalika is a circuit Martin enjoys, and he believes Aprilia’s setup could remain competitive. He tempered expectations for a 37‑point sweep across sprint and main race, citing tyres, setup, and the relentless opposition from Ducati, and the effort required to outpace rivals.
Goal: One Victory, One Championship
Martin’s only Grand Prix win this year came at Le Mans, where he collected the full 37 points. “I would sign right now to be champion with one victory,” he asserted, adding that confidence and speed might deliver the necessary win before season’s end.
He stressed perseverance, saying he “never gives up” and will keep fighting until the final race. Whether this single triumph can lock the title remains the question that defines the championship narrative.
