Record‑Equalling Triumph
The triumph marks Toyota’s sixth consecutive manufacturers’ championship, a streak that began in 2021, and the 10th overall, placing the Japanese marque alongside Lancia at the pinnacle of rallying history. The team’s GR Yaris has dominated under Rally1 regulations, winning 56 of 77 events since the 2022 rule cycle started.

With two rounds of the 2026 season still to run, the victory was sealed in Chile by Kankkunen‑co‑piloted car, underscoring the depth of Toyota’s driver lineup, which already boasts back‑to‑back wins from both Takamoto Katsuta and Elfyn Evans, and second victories by Seb Ogier.
Official Reactions
Deputy team principal Juha Kankkunen, a four‑time world champion who helped Toyota claim titles in 1993 and 1994, praised the team’s effort: “This is a reflection of the hard work everybody has put into this season.” Chairman Akio Toyoda added, “We are genuinely delighted that the manufacturers’ championship has now been secured for Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team.”
