Freedom 250: Lundgaard Secures Second Spot
Christian Lundgaard climbed from ninth on the grid to finish second at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, the 1.7‑mile, seven‑turn street circuit surrounding the National Mall.
He piloted the Arrow McLaren Chevy in the #7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, marking a strong showing on a temporary track in Washington, D.C.
The 25‑year‑old Dane added a sixth podium to his breakout 2026 IndyCar campaign, which already boasts two victories, 11 top‑10 finishes, and one pole position.
Championship Standings Move
With the podium, Lundgaard now sits third in the overall standings with 443 points, 19 points behind race winner Kyle Kirkwood’s 462 and three races remaining.
After the weekend, Krickwood and Lundgaard exchanged positions in the chase, with the Danish driver catching his rival only on a handful of laps.

“Yeah, I feel like I had just a couple of laps where I was faster than him, and then I know the 12 laps where he was faster than me, so…”
“Yeah, what an experience all weekend. The best background I’ve ever had on a racetrack obviously. Just being a part of it, seeing where the series is going, being a part of it,” Lundgaard added.
“Obviously the race was long. I think we got a better result than we expected. We got three more races to go. I think I’m just happy to see Alex (Palou) not win for once.”
“Obviously Kyle and I were second and fourth in the championship going into this weekend. Alex and David had some unfortunate luck out there. But those are the days that we need to not have for the rest of the season.”
