Marco Bezzecchi successfully completed a four‑run session on his RSV4 at Misano, showing the first tangible sign of his return to race fitness following a broken collarbone suffered at the German Grand Prix.

Collarbone fracture forces temporary withdrawal

During the opening lap of the Sachsenring sprint on 11 July, Bezzecchi lost balance from his Aprilia and landed heavily, breaking his left clavicle. He was promptly flown back to Italy and received surgery the following day at the University Hospital of Sassuolo under Dr Giuseppe Porcellini.

The operative approach reduced and stabilised the fracture, according to the team statement released at the time. The procedure was deemed successful, paving the way for a structured rehabilitation plan.

Rehabilitation progress and the Misano test

Less than three weeks later, the rider appeared on the track for a controlled practice block. Equipped with one of Noale’s production sports bikes, he completed four laps, a milestone that has been highlighted as a clear indicator that the rehabilitation program is moving ahead as scheduled.

Aprilia confirmed the session as “a positive step” and noted that Bezzecchi will next head to Silverstone, where a medical assessment by MotoGP’s Dr Angel Charte will determine his fitness to compete again.

Additional knee treatment following the crash

In addition to the clavicle operation, the rider underwent a minor knee procedure on 18 July to clean a wound sustained during the Sachsenring incident. The team characterized the surgery as routine and emphasized that it posed no significant further risk to his competitive prospects.

Championship implications and future outlook

Bezzecchi had been leading the championship until the Assen race and had won four of the first seven Grands Prix of the season. The string of crashes in the last four MotoGP Sundays moved him to fourth in the standings, leaving him several points behind the leader.

Once cleared medically, he will monitor the remaining eleven races with the aim of re‑entering the title contention for 2026. The rider’s return to a full pace will be crucial for his campaign.

Current status and next steps

With the Misano work session completed, the next phase hinges on the outcome of the medical review at Silverstone. The MotoGP medical team will assess his physical readiness, covering both the shoulder and knee areas.

Should the appointment end positively, Bezzecchi will be back on the grid—an event that will be closely watched by teams, sponsors and fans alike.
