Maverick Vinales confirmed that a new MotoGP contract signed with KTM was later declared invalid by the Austrian manufacturer, effectively ending his tenure with the team and leaving him without a seat for 2027.
Contract Dispute Unveiled
During a Sachsenring statement, Vinales detailed the sequence: after receiving a signed agreement via email during a Mugello stop, KTM later announced the contract was not valid. He admitted accepting the file “even though it was not in my best interests” and counted it as a mistake that had nothing to do with personal gain.
Exiting MotoGP
Vinales reiterated that his exclusion from the Brno test had signaled his departure from the competition. He cited the absence of dialogue with the team as confirmation that talks had been halted. “I am not going to talk to them any longer,” he said, noting that the final terms were reached the week before.
Future Possibilities
Without an open seat in MotoGP, the rider acknowledged that potential opportunities are “unknown.” He declined to pursue other categories at the moment, stating he simply wanted to enjoy racing while planning a well‑deserved break. Vinales hinted at possible ventures such as motocross or endurance events like the Suzuka 8 Hours should circumstances change, yet he has no concrete plans.
