Hoyoverse shifts gears, unveiling its first co‑op monster‑slaying action title, Nodusfall, at Gamescom ONL 2026.
Release Details and Platform Scope
Hoyoverse has not yet disclosed a launch window for Nodusfall. The game is confirmed for PC only, and its pricing model is free‑to‑play.
Unlike prior titles, the development team has ruled out gacha mechanics. Instead, characters will unlock through continuous play, and revenue is expected to come mainly from cosmetic micro‑transactions.
Co‑operative Combat Experience
Nodusfall slots four players into a squad that teams up to decimate mythic beasts. The combat blend draws on elements from Monster Hunter and classic MMOs.
Players select from fixed character classes, each with five distinct abilities: four routine skills and one divine move, all on cooldown. Ability rotation forms the core gameplay loop.
Character Classes and Signature Skills
The demo introduced two melee and two ranged prototypes, including an ice/heal caster. Each class showcases a range of moves, such as lightning‑charged strikes, revival supports, tornado blasts, and long‑range projectile attacks.
Classes featuring monsters also possess a transformative meter; fully charged, characters shift into a powerful monstrous form.
Weapons, Loot, and Build Progression
Combatants wield great swords, normal blades, and bows, with additional weapon types expected in full release. Loot drops reward valuable resources that unlock new skills and armaments, expanding tactical options.
Bodies of bosses incorporate multiple health bars, presented as segmented circles, and a stagger meter that splits into three phases. Filling the meter exposes a critical vulnerability before resetting.
Multiplayer Systems and Future Connectivity
Voice chat is built in to facilitate squad coordination. The current focus remains on PvE, though developers have hinted at exploring PvP features later.
Mounts, including horse mounts, appear to bridge travel between PvE zones, though the play‑style surrounding mounts remains to be clarified.
First Trailer Snapshot
The opening trailer, released on August 25 during Gamescom ONL 2026, showcased core combat sequences, diverse character abilities, and the looming presence of multiple boss encounters.
With its fresh blend of cooperative monster‑slaying and refined character systems, Nodusfall is set to carve a distinctive niche in the free‑to‑play arena.
