For ‘Overwatch 2’, Blizzard once again emphasized the stronger focus on the story missions that you want to combine with the PvP part. According to Game Director Jeff Kaplan, the focus is on “story-centric PvE content and a complete story experience that can easily compete with large AAA productions.
It says:
“We're introducing full-featured PvE that includes a full story experience with a whole host of story missions that drive Overwatch’s story for the first time in gameplay. We are also working on a highly repeatable cooperative feature called Hero Missions that is powered by a progress system that allows any hero to level up and gain new powers. ”
Previously, the story was told by Overwatch through the character profiles or animated short videos, in which there was always great interest. The implementation directly in the game is therefore only a logical consequence.
Release 2020?
In the past few days, reports of a potential release of Overwatch 2 have also been circulating this year, which were scattered by PlayStation Brazil. However, this contradicts the data from Blizzard itself, which so far only said that the release will be a long time coming. PlayStation Brazil has since withdrawn the relevant information.
