Esteban Ocon future at Haas remains unsettled, as former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer publicly questioned the Frenchman’s prospects amid a strained relationship with the German team.
Grid reshuffle brings midfield focus to Haas
The 2027 F1 grid is taking shape after Max Verstappen committed to Red Bull through 2030, and both Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon extended with Williams. With those locks, attention moves to the remaining midfield seats, placing Haas in the spotlight as Ocon’s tenure is now under scrutiny.
Palmer blows the whistle on F1 TV Warm‑Up
Speaking on the Dutch Grand Prix weekend’s F1 TV Warm‑Up, Palmer declared: “I think Esteban is really in trouble,” adding that the Frenchman “has had a bit of a strained relationship now with Haas. He’s not performed and that’s the big seat.”
Brundle names potential replacements
Panelist Alex Brundle echoed the concern, saying the seat “is the one that’s up for discussion.” He highlighted Leo Fornaroli, the 2024 Formula 2 champion, and Ferrari‑linked Rafael Camara as possible successors before questioning whether Ocon can retain the role.
2025 season shows early performance gap
When Ocon joined Haas in 2025, rookie teammate Oliver Bearman finished 13th with 41 points, while the Frenchman ended 15th with 38 points—a clear disparity that set the tone for the following year.
2026 intensifies the divide
After 11 rounds of the 2026 championship, Bearman sits 13th with 18 points, whereas Ocon lags at 17th, tallying only three points. The statistics underline a widening performance difference.
Ocon hints at upcoming contract discussions
Ahead of the summer break, Ocon stated, “Of course nothing to announce yet. The summer break will be quite busy… There are always many options. At the moment we will discuss with the team first.” He noted that his two‑year stint was motivated by Ayao Komatsu, emphasizing that conversations would likely begin in August.
