IndyCar’s IR‑28 Shakedown to Begin at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The IR‑28 IndyCar platform will undergo a verification run in the field this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, marking the first real‑world test of the new chassis since its reveal on Tuesday.
Saturday and Sunday Driver Slots
Alex Palou, the four‑time IndyCar champion, will steer the IR‑28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Alexander Rossi, the 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner, will control the car between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Redesigned Aerodynamics and Safety Focus
The IR‑28 features new aero components designed to lower lap times and sharpen wheel‑to‑wheel action. Mechanical upgrades include a stronger monocoque, advanced crash‑structure zones, and driver‑safety systems that meet the highest standards expected in “The Fastest Racing on Earth.”
Spectator Access During the Validation Run
Fans will be able to see every turn from the Turn 2 Viewing Mounds, which will be open for both days of testing, offering front‑row viewing of the chassis’ performance.
