Alex Quinn will occupy a race seat for Peugeot’s 9X8 Hypercar in the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship after proving his skill as a test driver and winning the LMP2 title with CrowdStrike by APR.
From F3 to the Hypercar
Quinn’s early career featured victories in British Formula 3 and the Renault Eurocup before he progressed to Formula Regional Europe in 2021.
In 2023 he transitioned to sports‑car racing, competing in both the IMSA SportsCar Championship and the European Le Mans Series.
Test and Development to Road‑to‑Winner
The British driver first took the wheel of the Peugeot 9X8 during last November’s Bahrain rookie test, earning his status as the “seventh driver” in the manufacturer’s programme.
He has been groomed for a race seat in a manner similar to former teammate Malthe Jakobsen, following a structured test‑development pathway.
Peugeot’s 2027 Line‑Up Shake‑Up
Peugeot is reshaping its roster after Stoffel Vandoorne departed following the Fuji event and Theo Pourchaire announced his exit to pursue Formula E commitments with Opel.
Jakobsen will also leave, joining McLaren for its new LMDh prototype in the Hypercar class, creating two vacant seats midway through 2027.
With Quinn’s promotion, Robert Shwartzman has been signed as a full‑time driver, while Jean‑Eric Vergne is expected to return after a season of testing duties.
Track Credentials and Achievements
Quinn’s résumé includes a Le Mans 24 Hours LMP2 Pro/Am win, a Rolex Daytona LMP2 victory, and podium finishes in both IMSA and the ELMS.
His 2024 LMP2 title was clinched with CrowdStrike by APR, underscoring his readiness for the Hypercar series.
Team Spotlight
Peugeot team principal Emmanuel Esnault praised Quinn’s evolution: “Alex has demonstrated great abilities at the wheel of the car when testing with us and sporting achievements in LMP2 again this season.”
Esnault added that Peugeot is continuing its policy of promoting young LMP2 talent to the Hypercar platform.
Forward‑Looking Prospects
As the 2027 season approaches, the 9X8 will carry a driver lineup sourced from two‑tier racing, positioning Peugeot for a competitive edge in the Hypercar championship.
With Quinn’s proven adaptability and the team’s development momentum, the French manufacturer looks poised to challenge the front of the grid.
