PS5: Sony says the studios are happy with the development facilities

Managing the code on the new Sony platform will be easier, at least that's what developers who have talked to the company's CEO think.

There is still more than a year for the new generation of consoles to take flight, but the studios are already working with the aim of taking their proposals to PS5 and Project Scarlett, the two new platforms of Sony and Microsoft, respectively. In an interview with GamesIndustry, Jim Ryan, CEO of PlayStation, commented that the impressions of the developers are still positive. They emphasize that PS5 is the console of the PlayStation family that gives more facilities when coding.

"One thing that makes me particularly optimistic is what I'm hearing from developers and publishers," says the manager. As noted, they have transmitted the benefits of the platform, since according to these studies, it is easier to code in PS5. "It goes beyond any experience they have had on other PlayStation platforms," says Ryan.

PlayStation Now, part of the future

The era of services is here to stay. With the idea of adapting to current needs, Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to lower the price of the service and offer more attractive first-party video games. In the aforementioned interview, Jim Ryan recalls the change of position regarding the PlayStation Now service: “Right now, given that some of our first-party IPs are incredibly special and have value, we want to treat them with great care and respect”

Another of the points of interest of PlayStation 5 is that it will be backward compatible with PlayStation 4. It is still not certain that it will work with all the games, but the Japanese company has already explained that it has not yet culminated in the work and that the idea is that the emulation works perfectly with the largest possible number of products.

PS5 is scheduled for the end of 2020, still without a specific date. It will mount an 8-core Ryzen Zen processor and will include a new controller with haptic functions.
