Qatar MotoGP remains committed to its scheduled round at Losail International Circuit, even as geopolitical tension ripples across the Middle East.
Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Latif Al Mannai, president of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and the circuit’s owner, confirmed the event will run on the calendar for late 2026, barring unforeseen developments.
Event Status in a Fluid Climate
The WEC’s 1812 km race in Qatar, originally slated for February, was moved to October before its ultimate cancellation; the season finale then shifted to Monza.
Formula 1 will still cross the Gulf in late November, concluding the championship in Abu Dhabi. MotoGP follows at Losail, while the WRC heads to Saudi Arabia for its final round.
Al Mannai said, “We are fully operational and preparing for MotoGP. Discussions with Formula 1 continue. Some outcomes remain uncertain, but preparations must proceed.”
Separating Sport from Geopolitics
Focusing on logistics, the QMMF underscored Qatar’s capacity to host major events safely. “Qatar demonstrates the ability to host high‑profile competitions to world‑class standards,” he added.
Air traffic remains at 100 % for transit flights between Asia and Europe, and day‑to‑day life has returned to normal, according to the federation.
Future Outlook
With the WEC Prologue’s return to Losail in 2027 announced alongside a “2026” MotoGP schedule, the federation signals readiness for the coming seasons.
All steps—training, security, and logistics—will unfold as the situation evolves over the next two months, but the basic plan to host the Qatar MotoGP remains intact.
