Alan Permane told Racing Bulls’ rising stars Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad to tune into Max Verstappen’s radio at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Racing Bulls Heeds Verstappen’s Example
During the paddock briefing, the team principal explained that the duo can learn from Verstappen’s calm communication and precise feedback. “I use GPS and the radio to follow his work,” Permane said, noting the German’s exemplary pace and demeanor. “He’s a benchmark for us.”
While Racing Bulls and Red Bull share ownership, the Scuderia only have the standard telemetry available to all competitors, not the extra data that the Red Bull outfit enjoys.
Lawson’s Learning Curve
Liam Lawson, who spent two races with Red Bull earlier in 2025 before returning to Faenza, said he still absorbs lessons from his brief team‑mate. “We look at every driver, but the data we share is the same for everyone,” he remarked after the Austrian Grand Prix. “You pick up things for sure when watching what everyone’s doing.”
Lawson and Lindblad, the youngest pair on the 2026 grid with only 35 starts combined, have already shown a razor‑thin gap. In the season’s first four races, Lawson qualified eighth to sixth and scored 43 points to Lindblad’s 23, though the Swede narrowed the spread to 27–18 in the last six rounds.
A Tight Duel
Permane highlighted the sibling rivalry, noting that their fastest lap times at the Belgian practice session were separated by mere milliseconds. “It’s going to be a nip‑and‑tuck battle all year,” he added, underscoring the intensity of this young pairing as they carve their place in Formula 1.
