Austin Hill will take the wheel of Richard Childress Racing’s No. 33 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2027 onward.
Hill, who managed the renumbered No. 8 while chasing the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series title, has agreed to a deal that extends his Cup points campaign into the 2027 season. The 32‑year‑old also maintains a competitive lane in the No. 33 through the end of 2026.
Transition to Cup and All‑Series Shift
Following the sudden loss of Kyle Busch, Richard Childress stepped forward to fill the vacancy in the Cup program and signed Hill to continue driving the No. 33 Chevrolet. The May announcement follows a parallel move by Hill’s O’Reilly teammate Jesse Love, who will join the Wood Brothers Cup crew next season, leaving RCR with fresh talent on both NOAPS machines.
Hill’s Proven Track Record
Hill entered RCR in 2022, claiming victory in his debut NOAPS start for the organization. Over five full seasons in NASCAR’s secondary ranks, he collected 16 wins with RCR and notched eight victories in the Craftsman Truck Series while racing for Hattori Racing Enterprises. In Cup, he earned a lone top‑ten finish, securing ninth place at the 2025 Chicago Street Course.

With Hill set to drive the No. 33 from 2027, RCR has shored up its Cup lineup and is poised to build momentum around a driver who has already proven himself at every rung of the sport.
