Robert Wickens re‑enters Canadian Tire Motorsport Park after a month‑long crisis that scorched the team’s transport and erased his custom driver kit.
Fire‑inflicted setback
Two months ago, the DXDT Racing transporter caught fire en route to Laguna Seca, wrecking nearly everything, including the one‑of‑one hand‑control system Wickens relies on.
Despite the loss, the squad salvaged a Corvette chassis—previously used in SRO America—and refit it to strict IMSA WeatherTech specifications for the season’s next event.
Rapid rebuild and new tech
A partnership among Bosch, Pratt Miller, DXDT and Corvette Racing produced a brand‑new, race‑specific braking system in just four weeks.
Wickens had to overnight a new HANS device and shoes after realizing fire damage had compromised his existing gear.
Team gratitude amid logistics war
Admitting the odds seemed steep, Wickens said his appreciation for the mechanical, engineering and managerial crew outweighed any personal frustration.
He noted that while the driver side feeds many adjustments, the true work lies in handling insurance complications, safety gear shortages and last‑minute fixes.
Back at the wheel
With a successful shakedown, Wickens now lines up alongside Mason Filippi in the #36 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, aiming to turn the team’s resilience into podium finishes.

“We want to prove we’re strong enough to fight for wins every weekend,” Wickens added. The goal is clear: repay the team’s tireless effort through victory.
