Silent Hill 2 Gets a Stunning Visual Twist With Townfall’s New CRTV

Konami has released 19 minutes of new first‑person footage for Silent Hill: Townfall, showcasing a handheld CRTV that replaces the franchise’s classic pocket radio.

How the CRTV Works

The CRTV offers a visual spin on static radio, letting players scan St. Amelia for enemy signals and unstable frequencies. Unlike the old three‑dimensional interface, the device projects a real‑time map of danger, making tracking enemies possible from the character’s visor.

Gameplay Moments Revealed

In the clip, protagonist Simon uses the CRTV to navigate through Zoe’s house, solving a puzzle in true Silent Hill fashion. When he encounters a faceless creature, the device stores a single signal to provide a preview of an enemy ahead, while a riskier “peek” mechanic allows a brief glimpse of more foes.

From Pocket Radio to First‑Person Lock‑On

The transition from third‑person Silent Hill 2 to a first‑person horror title required a mechanic that offered more than audio. The CRTV delivers that by letting players zone in on frequencies and scope out threats in the Otherworld, echoing the legacy of the original radioactive indicator while refreshing it for modern gameplay.
