Cadillac secured its 11th IMSA manufacturer title when the brand swept the GTP and GTD Pro honors at the Motul Petit Le Mans on Saturday at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
Cadillac’s All‑Out Approach Yields Dual Titles
Team Cadillac united the efforts of Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing’s #10 and #40 entries with Action Express Racing’s #31 Whelen Cadillac V‑Series.R. Together, they captured both the GTP Manufacturer and Team championships, a first for the marque’s endurance program.
Deputy President Mark Reuss celebrated the moment, saying the double win underscored the strength of GM’s racing pyramid and the dedication of drivers, engineers and crew members.
Jack Aitken Clinches Driver Championship
Jack Aitken, locked in the #31 car with Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti, earned his first IMSA series title. Consistency marked his season, with eight straight GTP podiums and nine finishes among the last eleven races since Indianapolis.
Action Express Racing, competing as Cadillac Whelen, also celebrated its seventh team championship, a milestone that joins Chip Ganassi Racing and Team Penske for the most all‑time titles.
Camey Mitchell, team manager at Action Express, reflected on the sustained partnership with GM that traces back to Grand‑Am. “The tools and support we receive from Cadillac create a one‑team culture,” he said, acknowledging the crew’s resilience when any issue arises during the race.
Corvette Racing Holds Its Ground
Supplying the GTD Pro field, Corvette Racing’s Pratt‑Miller Z06 GT3.Rs suffered late‑race collisions that dropped the squad to eighth and 12th, denying Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg the driver and team titles. Still, the manufacturer sprint finished with 16th overall in the manufacturers’ standings, cementing Chevrolet’s longest reign as a factory series champion.
DragonSpeed’s customer Z06 GT3.R crossed the line in sixth, ahead of Ford Racing’s Mustang GT3s, and helped close out the GTD Pro manufacturer crown.
Vice‑President Eric Warren praised the Corvette program: “The Z06 has matured across IMSA and WEC. It’s a remarkable car, and we’re proud of its performance.”
Looking Ahead for the Rest of the Season
With the GTP title already locked, Cadillac’s focus turns to capitalizing on its dominant platform in the final weeks of the championship. Meanwhile, Action Express aims to translate its seven‑title legacy into an eighth next year, expanding its standing among the sport’s elite.
Corvette Racing remains a threat as the series advances, with veteran crews and a proven chassis ready to seize an opportunity if rivals falter.
