The PS5 could be Sony's last console

At the moment, people are still looking forward to the launch of the PS5 towards the end of the year, in which fans will surely invest several hundred euros. There will be more and more doubts as to whether there will be a PS6.

The advancing streaming technology in particular will no doubt replace the traditional consoles at some point. It is currently expected to grow by 25 percent per year and by 2025. Companies like Google are therefore investing heavily in this market and have hardly any barriers to entering it as a user, as Google Executive Phil Harrison notes.

“The big strategic difference is that you can experience Stadia for free in the next few months. You don't have to invest money or put a box in your home. You can just click and play great games straight from our data center. ”

In addition to Google, Amazon is also expected to launch its own streaming service later this year, as Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter recently said. Last but not least, Microsoft also no longer sees competition in Sony, but rather Amazon and Google with their gigantic data centers. According to Microsoft, traditional game manufacturers like Sony or Nintendo will not be playing in this league in the future, which is why you are investing billions of dollars in them yourself.

Time will tell whether Sony can expand its PlayStation Now streaming service quickly enough to counteract this. In view of this development, the future of gaming actually lies in it rather than in 500 EUR hardware.
