The Cintra invasion is one of the key scenes of the first season of this fiction, which will not premiere its second season until 2021.
Season 1 of The Witcher premiered at the end of December on Netflix. In total, eight chapters full of action, humor and fantasy that transfer the story told in the novels to television. The invasion of Cintra by Nilfgaard's troops is one of the peak and most violent moments that have been shown in the series. There is Princess Cirilla, heiress to the throne, who is in the royal palace when the swords begin to rattle. That is when several bloody scenes happen. But how did Freya Allen, the actress who plays Ciri, prepare for that very important moment?
A great challenge
In an interview with ComicBook, the interpreter has made it clear that it was a great challenge. “It was a challenge. And I wanted a challenge when I accepted the role, ”he acknowledges. Allen explains that he had to mentalize himself before performing those scenes. "I have a playlist of movie soundtracks, so I listened to that and I liked to walk on my own, take advantage of every moment and get into that kind of quiet area." At the same time, he reveals that another of the methods he used was to watch films that inspired her.
"Then, when I read the script," he continues, "I just remembered how excited I was about the challenge." Allen also recalls that a couple of those scenes were in his casting test, so, in a way, he had "seen" them before. "I was familiar with them, which I found great." The actress admits that she was surprised that her character was not at any time with Geralt or Yennefer, but at the same time, it means that she can "establish" that Ciri is "independent."
The Witcher series is based directly on the novels, so the story is not set in the same period as the CD Projekt RED video games. The most recent, The Witcher 3: Complete Edition, will be updated soon on Nintendo Switch. According to Saber Interactive, the authors of the port, "it will be worth waiting." However, it has not been confirmed what the news will consist of.
