Angela Sant’Albano has been announced as the new voice of Gwendolyn in the upcoming title Tides of Annihilation, taking over for Jennifer English who stepped away due to health concerns.
English, noted for her roles as Shadow Heart in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, earned a Best Performance award at The Game Awards 2025.
Sant’Albano, whose recent work as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem received widespread acclaim, is already being considered a front‑runner for the same award this year.
Revised Character Design
The updated demo released alongside the recast revealed changes to Gwendolyn’s appearance: a softer jawline and a less mature facial structure drew commentary from the community.
Players also witnessed narrated enhancements that align with the game’s newly adjusted voice casting.
Gameplay and Technical Overview
Tides of Annihilation is positioned as a single‑player fantasy action‑adventure that abandons the souls‑like formula, instead offering multi‑phased boss encounters reminiscent of Onimusha: The Way of the Sword.
The experience expands on character customization, puzzle mechanics, and will ship to PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It will first be playable at Gamescom 2026, with a release window projected for 2027.
Industry Impact
The casting shift underscores the developers’ commitment to performance excellence, while the demo’s visual tweaks signify a broader refinement strategy for the title.
