Riot Games has unveiled Retake LTM, a new 3‑v‑3 mode that launches with Valorant’s Season 2026 Act 4 and starts each round with the Spike already planted.
Mode Mechanics and Team Roles
Retake eliminates the early‑round set‑up, propelling all players into post‑plant combat from the first second. Each encounter is a bite‑size clash where one team defends a planted Spike and the other rushes to defuse it. Success is measured in five round victories; teams switch roles every round to balance attack and defense opportunities.

- Planters (Attackers)
• Spawn directly on the site with the Spike already set.
• Focus on holding the position or letting the Spike detonate to win the round. - Retakers (Defenders)
• Start outside the site and aim to breach defenses.
• Must either defuse the Spike or eliminate all Planters to take the round.
Loadout System and Progression
Rather than purchasing gear, players select two randomized cards before each round: one assigns weapons and armor, the other determines ability charges. Each card offers a choice between two variants, allowing tactical adaptation. Riot confirmed that loadout quality escalates as the match continues, so later rounds provide stronger selections.

Map Selection, Release Date, and Availability
Retake operates only on individual bomb sites extracted from existing Valorant maps, with a curated pool to suit the format. Riot plans to expand this roster throughout Act 4. The mode launches on June 24, 2026 alongside the Summit map, the Blackspyre Collection, and a new Battle Pass. Retake LTM is a Limited Time Mode and has not been declared permanent.
