McLaren CEO Zak Brown declared the team could become the quickest on the grid before the current regulation cycle ends.
“I’ve got confidence, but it’s tough,” Brown said, citing the team’s leap from ninth to constructors’ champion as proof that large jumps are achievable. He noted the squad’s current third‑place position and suggested a “follow‑the‑money” approach could see them surpass the top three if the fixtures allow.
Brown also reflected on recent highs: a sprint victory in Miami, a near‑win at the same event, and close calls at Japanese and other circuits. McLaren, positioned at 159 points in the constructors’ standings, is grappling with fierce rivals—Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari—all sharing “an exciting season” according to Brown. The team aims to keep the group tight and prevent a clear “five‑team” division from emerging.
