Esteban Ocon finished eighth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, marking his best performance of the 2026 season for Haas F1.
Race Highlights
In Baku, Ocon qualified under a hindering yellow flag but rallied for a solid finish. He narrowly missed seventh place, losing by only 0.03 seconds to Arvid Lindblad. During the race he executed a clean overtake just before the start line and followed with a tight pass into Turn 2, capitalising on the safety‑car period and efficient pit strategy.
Driver’s Perspective
“Super happy with the result,” Ocon said after the race, adding that the car’s performance “is what we deserve.” He pointed out that consistency had been a challenge, saying the team’s recent improvements have made the car more competitive. Ocon admitted he is aware he may lose his seat in 2027, and the frustrating yellow‑flag exit in qualifying added to his frustration.
Outlook for Haas
Looking ahead, Ocon sees the upcoming Sepang race as a chance to continue the positive trend. He believes the car has the potential for strong results on high‑speed circuits and remains optimistic about upcoming battles, although he acknowledges the competitive climate remains tight.
