Haas failed to score a single point at the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix, making it the fourth consecutive race without a podium or points finish.
Haas Struggles While Rivals Advance
The team’s early-season start, once seen as promising, has deteriorated as most competitors, notably Racing Bulls and Audi, have pulled ahead. Those two are now locked with Alpine for the few remaining point positions on the grid.
First‑Lap Contact Highlights Risk
During the Spa rush, Esteban Ocon and the teammate in the second car collided on lap one, pushing the Frenchman off the racing line and forcing both vehicles into a puncture. Ocon admitted the incident was not a genuine contest for position.
He noted the cars were three wide as they both tried to evade the contact, and that the other driver—slow-moving at the moment—caused the sharp brake and subsequent clash. He emphasized the need to avoid such situations moving forward.
Team Principal Demands Clear Rules
Ayao Komatsu, the team’s Japanese boss, called on the racing field to adopt a “rule of engagement” to prevent future unscheduled collisions. He insisted on keeping the team’s safety standards at the forefront and has already had “straight‑forward” conversations with both drivers after the finish.
In Budapest, Komatsu stressed that the focus would remain on ensuring incidents “do not happen again,” without delving into his personal perspective on the matter.
