Ferrari‑Backed Alba Larsen Secures 3rd F1 Academy Seat for 2027

Ferrari-backed Alba Larsen secures third F1 Academy season in 2027

Alba Larsen confirms 2027 F1 Academy return

Alba Larsen will compete again in the all‑female F1 Academy circuit next year, becoming the first driver officially confirmed for a 2027 season.

The 17‑year‑old Danish racer, who joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in August 2025, will step back onto the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP as she prepares to defend her title among the fastest young female drivers worldwide.

The decision comes after a rule change that now permits a third season for drivers who display strong growth potential, a clear acknowledgement of accelerating talent pipelines in the series.

“After two seasons in F1 Academy, I’ve seen first‑hand how much the series has grown and how crucial it is becoming,” Larsen told fans. “The team pushes forward, the fans bring energy, and I’ve grown a lot here.”

Social media reactions were mixed: one Reddit user urged her to move to a higher tier, while another cautioned that sponsorship constraints can limit such jumps. Both comments echoed concerns voiced by Abbi Pulling and Jamie Chadwick about financial hurdles in advancing to other categories.

Current standings:

  • Alisha Palmowski – 136 points
  • Emma Felbermayr – 88 points
  • Nina Gademan – 71 points
  • Alba Larsen – 50 points

The sixth round of the season will be held in Austin from 22‑25 October, forming part of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix weekend.

With F1 Academy expanding its reach and providing a clear stage for emerging female talent, Larsen’s continued presence signals her confidence in both her development and the series’ future trajectory.
