Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi, despite a strong opening sequence, has failed to earn points in four successive Sunday races. Jorge Martin has struggled with pace and fitness following a solitary victory in France, while environmental rookie Ai Ogura is only now starting to find firm footing among front‑robin classes.
Ducati’s title hopes collided with setbacks: Marc Marquez faced a significant injury that required surgery, Fabio di Giannantonio’s erratic starts cost him valuable points, and Alex Marquez was sidelined after an early injury that terminated his challenge.
KTM’s Pedro Acosta quipped that “it looks like no one wants to lead the championship” before conceding that Marquez remains his preferred frontrunner, arguing the rider is “the man to beat.”
Bagnaia’s Take on Consistency and Competition
“It’s wrong to say nobody wants this championship; everyone is pushing hard,” Bagnaia remarked at Sachsenring. He credited the 2026 season’s expanded competitiveness, which diluted Ducati’s dominance seen in 2024 and 2025.
He highlighted the variable point swings in the sport, where a single race can see a rider win twenty points one week and lose twenty the next—“it depends a lot on how you feel on your bike.”
Bagnaia admitted a dip in the last two Grands Prix yet noted he had earned 35 points compared to Mugello, stressing the need to correct intermittent performance glitches.
He praised Bezzecchi’s speed, calling him “the fastest for me on Aprilia,” and added Ogura’s growing competitiveness would elevate his weekend fighting for victories if he can sharpen his early‑lap pace.
When addressing Ducati’s quarterly performance, Bagnaia said: “With Ducati, it feels like one race one rider dominates, and the next another takes over. It’s not very constant with results like Aprilia. We are working on it, and I expect the back half to be more level.”
