Images surfacing yesterday suggest Rockstar may ultimately ship a genuine physical disc with a GTA 6 Collector’s Edition, contradicting earlier statements that a physical copy would be omitted entirely.
Largest‑ever Enclosure
A self‑proclaimed Unique Services Group Mexico employee, X user Alexi098, posted two photographs of an enormous black box bearing the label “Vice City: Leonida.” The dimensions exceed even a PlayStation 5 unit, and the design features multiple sections with a circular slot that appears tailored to accommodate a disc.
Inside the Leaked Packaging Story
Alexi098 claims to have worked on the Collector’s Edition packaging for a month before capturing the photos. In the accompanying post, the user narrates that, while making the images public for “fans,” they risked their account by discussing the possible inclusion of a disc within the Collector’s bundle.
Potential Impact on the Fan Base
Should Rockstar insist on gating the game’s sole playable copy behind a limited‑edition box, the move would likely irk collectors who have already placed pre‑orders in June. The approach echoes Rockstar’s previous strategy of locking in‑game bonuses behind an Ultimate Edition.
Historical Precedents
Red Dead Redemption 2’s Collector’s Box came without a physical or digital copy of the game—a fact that raised similar questions among purchasers. That precedent reinforces doubts about Rockstar’s willingness to offer a disc for a base edition of GTA 6.
Recent Promotional Moves
PlayStation’s announcement of a GTA 6 PS5 Limited Edition controller last week shows the publisher remains invested in promotional hardware. Meanwhile, the notorious leaker CyberLeek has previously disseminated multiple gameplay clips, adding to the speculation surrounding Rockstar’s marketing choices.
With the Collector’s Edition now rumored to lock a physical disc, Rockstar’s next communication will determine whether the announced pre‑orders represent a complete PC or console release, or merely a digital key wrapped in glossy retail packaging.
