Honda and HRC US captured the 2026 IndyCar Manufacturers’ Championship in a decisive finish over the Milwaukee Mile doubleheader, securing the company’s eighth title in the series and twelfth overall in American open‑wheel racing.
Season overview
The season’s consistency saw Honda‑powered entries rack up 10 victories, 13 pole positions and five complete podium sweeps. Thirteen of the fifteen Honda‑branded cars in the grid contributed points to the championship total.
Across all track types—road courses, short ovals, superspeedways and street circuits—the Japanese power unit dominated, particularly on street venues where it collected every one of the six wins and 15 of the 18 podium spots, taking custodianship of more than 90% of all laps.
Street circuit triumphs
Alex Palou led the charge, earning victories at St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Detroit and the closing races at Barber and Nashville. Kyle Kirkwood captured wins at Arlington and Washington, DC, while Marcus Ericsson topped Markham on a street layout.
Indianapolis 500 milestone
In the 110th Indy 500, Felix Rosenqvist piloted the Meyer Shank Racing #60 Honda to victory in the race’s closest finish on record, marking Honda’s 17th win in the marquee event.
Championship outcomes and individual achievements
Alex Palou mirrored the manufacturer’s success, clinching his fourth straight and fifth overall IndyCar drivers’ title after Sunday’s race.
The remaining event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will decide the rookie of the year: Dennis Hauger of Dale Coyne Racing holds a slim 18‑point lead over Mick Schumacher from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, with Caio Collet of AJ Foyt Racing trailing by 30 points.
