Lewis Hamilton Sends Sincere Apology to Fans After Singapore GP Blunder

Lewis Hamilton sends message to fans after Singapore GP mistake

Lewis Hamilton takes full blame for a 6th‑place finish at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Self‑admission and Instagram message

After a win‑run for Max Verstappen and a podium for Charles Leclerc, Hamilton posted on Instagram, stating “Yesterday wasn’t the result we were looking for, and that’s on me.” He added that he had made a strategic choice that failed to deliver and that the placement “doesn’t reflect the pace we had in the car.”

The driver thanked his team, acknowledged the fans’ energy in Singapore, and vowed to “continue to put the work in and come back fighting at the next race.”

What went wrong on the track

Ferrari had called for a pit stop during the virtual safety car ahead of Leclerc, but Hamilton missed the entry despite a clear radio directive. He switched to a medium compound with the aim of completing the race on a single stop, a plan that underperformed compared with the soft compound used by other cars.

Immediately after the pit call was missed, Hamilton apologized over the radio with, “Sorry, boys… I let you down today with that strategy” and admitted “My call, and I lost us valuable points.”

Strategy attempt

The medium tyre choice was intended to reduce tyre management cost, but the harder compound’s performance curve proved weaker over the race distance. This decision, combined with the failure to enter the pit lane, cost Hamilton critical positions.

Race results and other contenders

Verstappen took the victory, Leclerc finished second, and championship leader Kimi Antonelli rounded out the podium. Hamilton’s 6th place was a clear indication of the strategic error that cost him a potential points haul.

Next race opportunity

The United States Grand Prix in Austin, scheduled for 23‑25 October, provides Hamilton a chance to learn from the Singapore mishap. He has publicly committed to come back stronger and refuses to “pull his punches” after this setback.

With a clearer strategy for the upcoming race, Hamilton’s back‑and‑forth mindset remains a sharp point of focus for teams watching his tactical evolution in the highly competitive Formula One season.
