Christian Lundgaard will begin the Portland International Raceway contest from the rear of the grid after a crippling electrical fault scrubbed his qualifying run.
Turbulent Qualifying
“Quite disappointed in how our day ended up, considering we seemed to have made progress overnight with our pace,” Lundgaard said after the session. “My dash froze when we came in for the tire change midway through Q1, and when we fired up again, my hybrid didn’t work after that.”
The stop for fresh tires revealed a failure in the hybrid power unit, leaving the #7 Chevrolet with insufficient speed to set a competitive lap and consigning Lundgaard to the bottom of the score sheet.
Looking Ahead
Entering the weekend fourth in the championship, the 25‑year‑old Dane already boasts two victories, including a last‑to‑first charge at Road America in June.
Portland’s 12‑turn, 1.964‑mile natural road course is a tighter, more demanding challenge than the sweeping turns of Road America, a reality Lundgaard embraces as he readies to convert a back‑row start into a podium‑hopeful effort.
