Marquez Eyes Record‑Extending Win at Aragon
When asked if he could aim for a record‑extending eighth win at the anti‑clockwise circuit, the reigning world champion acknowledged the advantage the track offers his riding style.
“We are at a race track where… I like it for my riding style,” he said, noting how the left‑handed corners fit his preferred approach.
Track‑Specific Strengths Fuel Ducati’s Confidence
Marquez emphasized that Aragon’s mix of corners suits him, believing he can harness the bike’s full potential to compete for victory.
He cited his dominant performances on similarly anti‑clockwise venues such as Balaton Park, Sachsenring and the current Aragon circuit, underscoring a pattern of success on these tracks.
Aprilista Domination Forces Marquez to Strategise
Aprilista’s surge in the championship, with seven wins from the first twelve races, has forced Ducati to sharpen its focus.
The Spaniard admitted he must finish ahead of the Aprilista riders to keep his championship hopes alive.
He added that Aprilista discovered “something this year,” noting the speed of the factory’s four riders on fast‑corner tracks like Assen and Silverstone.
Physical Challenges and Seasonal Variability
Marquez acknowledged his physical limitations, especially on tracks that demand more from him, and how this season has visible fluctuation based on track characteristics.
He compared current confidence with last year, saying “last year I was riding in an easier way,” while noting that even at Silverstone, he was still fighting for positions with a 100 % effort on Friday and Saturday.
Immediate Focus Amid Championship Tensions
He said, “The pressure is there for everybody, but it’s not more than in the past,” and highlighted that the left‑handed corners at Aragon could be gentler on his right arm.
Marquez concluded that if he can maintain pace, he will strive to stay competitive in upcoming races, while accepting that some days may be better than others for the championship run.
