Mojang announced that the upcoming Minecraft 26.3 update, targeted for a fall 2026 launch, will debut the Dappled Forest biome alongside a suite of new building resources.
Autumn‑tinted Dappled Forest reshapes the overworld
The Dappled Forest replaces traditional woodlands with a palette of deep reds and oranges, delivering a tranquil, autumnal atmosphere that aligns with the season’s release window. Scattered throughout the biome, Red Shrub bushes retain their vivid hue regardless of placement, offering consistent color for landscaping.
Poplar trees expand the timber library
Three colour variants of the newly introduced Poplar tree appear in the forest, each yielding a distinct Poplar wood set when harvested. Builders can now craft structures using these fresh textures, adding another layer of diversity to Minecraft house designs.
Exploration incentives: Abandoned Camp and wool furnishings
Hidden within the Dappled Forest, an Abandoned Camp structure invites players to speculate about its origins while searching for unknown loot, according to Game Director Agnes Larsson. Complementing the camp’s narrative potential, the update finally delivers long‑requested wool stairs and slabs, widening decorative options for interior décor.
The Minecraft 26.3 update follows the June 16 release of the Chaos Cubed 26.2 patch, completing the autumn drop cycle introduced at Minecraft Live during TwitchCon Rotterdam.
By coupling a season‑inspired biome with novel wood types and versatile wool components, Mojang equips creators with immediate reasons to explore the new content as soon as the fall 2026 rollout arrives.
