Pirelli has unveiled new Italian Grand Prix trophies that combine industrial design with contemporary art, sparking debate among fans and designers alike.
Unconventional Trophy Design
Named “FRAGILE”, the trophy was created by the artistic duo Vanovamazzei—Stella Scala and Simeone Crispino—using a 3D‑printing process that fuses nylon powder into a stack of unstable bowls, a visual homage to the tradition of passing celebratory glasses.
On Reddit, one user remarked that the trophy “doesn’t seem appropriate for a trophy; it feels museum‑grade,” while another enthusiast noted that “as long as it still resembles a trophy, the design is brilliant.”
Designers and fans, however, have raised concerns about the trophy’s durability, echoing the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix incident in which Lando Norris accidentally knocked Max Verstappen’s winner’s trophy over. Comments such as “Better make spares in case Lando gets on the podium” and “This is the most Lando‑breakable trophy yet” illustrate the caution.
Race Weekend Perspective
The 2026 Italian Grand Prix will take place at Monza from 4–6 September. Driver standings ahead of the weekend show Kimi Antonelli leading the championship with a 59‑point advantage over George Russell, while Lewis Hamilton sits level with Russell in the pursuit.
With Lando’s podium fears and the fragile trophies looming, Monza’s tight straights will test every team as the season intensifies.
