Robin Raikkonen, the son of 2007 Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, has joined the Red Bull Junior Team.
A Rising Karting Prodigy
Born 27 January 2015, the 8‑year‑old began karting in 2022, piloting Rotax Max machines in Switzerland before racing across Europe and contesting the WSK Super Master Series in its age‑appropriate category.
Red Bull’s Commitment to Growth
In a release, Kimi Raikkonen thanked Laurent Mekies and the Red Bull team for their support, noting the programme’s breadth in nurturing raw potential into full‑fledged racing talent. He highlighted that the club will provide experience‑building “all the experience required to develop his natural talent” seen in his karting successes.
Laurent Mekies, F1 team principal, described Robin as “one of the most promising young drivers” of his generation. He praised the boy’s speed, racecraft, maturity and calm focus, adding that Red Bull will pace his development “without placing any unnecessary pressure” on him.
Robin will share the squad with nine other prospects, under the guidance of Formula 2 champion Nikola Tsolov, who is being eyed for a 2027 Formula 1 seat with Racing Bulls.
