Track Enterprises confirmed the withdrawal in a Friday press release, citing ongoing uncertainty at the facility. The company, which has been attempting to secure a future racing date after the Indian Harbor Racing Association (IHRA) faced financial strain, highlighted that “updates regarding future scheduling will be announced as they become available.” Despite the setback, the organization expressed optimism about bringing competitive racing back to “The Rock” at some point.
Short‑Term Racing Briefly Resides
Rockingham’s history on NASCAR dates back to its opening in 1965, but the venue lost its Cup race after the 2004 season. Subsequent ownership changes saw brief returns, notably a Truck Series event in 2012 and 2013, followed by a 2025 schedule that included both the NASCAR O’Reilly Series and the Truck Series. In 2026 the lower divisions raced during Easter Weekend, yet that arrangement did not extend into 2027.

Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent praised the “incredible” fan support that helped reinstate NASCAR at the track, though he acknowledged disappointment that the 2027 season will not feature a Cup race.
