Yamaha Motor Co. announced that Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins will depart from the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP paddock at the conclusion of the 2026 season, clearing the way for a new driver roster in 2027.
Legacy of Yamaha’s Two Champions
Fabio Quartararo joined the factory team in 2019 and quickly became one of MotoGP’s standout figures. Over seven seasons he amassed 11 victories, 32 podiums, and captured the World Championship in 2021.
Alex Rins signed on in 2024, bringing extensive experience and proven success. During his stint, he added 18 race wins—six in the premier class—and helped fine‑tune Yamaha’s race machine, reinforcing overall team performance.
Heading Into 2027 With New Talent
Yamaha’s forthcoming line‑up for 2027 will feature Spanish rider Jorge Martín and Japanese competitor Ai Ogura, signalling a focus on fresh talent to push the Yamaha bike across the world’s circuits.
Commitment Through the Final Season
Both riders and the manufacturer pledged to continue working toward optimal results until the end of the 2026 campaign. Yamaha thanked Quartararo and Rins for their professionalism, dedication, and accolades, and emphasized that no plans to keep the Spanish rider beyond MotoGP are currently in place.
A New Chapter on the Horizon
With the confirmation of Martin and Ogura, the Japanese marque is poised to build a new competitive platform, while the former champions are set to pursue new chapters with other teams—Quartararo heading to the factory Honda squad.
