In a recent interview, Nair admitted the workload exceeded initial estimates but clarified that the increased demands were driven by systemic improvements rather than conflict‑of‑interest concerns.
Audit Reveals No Bias
Throughout the first half of the 2026 season, Nair and the board’s audit team found no indications of partiality within paddock operations, contradicting earlier accusations of a “dark cloud of suspected bias.”
“We were brought in because of perception,” Nair noted. “The reality has been none of a broken system, just room for evolution.”
Rulebook Revamp and Tech Upgrade
Identifying a procedural hurdle, the board tackled the rulebook’s complexity, collaborating with IndyCar to fund advanced optical scanning technology for technical inspections, aligning the series with global standards.

In January, the board appointed Nick Allen as technical inspection manager to shadow Technical Director Kevin “Rocket” Blanch, followed by veteran official Scot Elkins’s appointment as Managing Director of Officiating in May.
After Blanch’s retirement post‑Detroit Grand Prix, Allen was promoted to Technical Director, leaving his former managerial role open for a new hire.
Open Reporting Sparks Debate
Alongside staffing shifts, the board released post‑event officiating reports immediately after Blanch’s departure, broadening transparency and attempting to silence paddock conspiracy theories.
Nair expressed that open communication serves as a safeguard against drama, stating that pro‑transparency could showcase the officiating team’s excellence and clarify blind spots.
