The reimagined version of the PlayStation classic debuts on March 3 with the first episode, which will take place in Midgar.
A taciturn man, of uncertain past, armed with a sword of enormous proportions, former Soldier and now a mercenary. This is how Cloud arrives in Midgar, ready to fight alongside Avalanche against the evil Shinra corporation. The city, squeezed by the ambitions of a few, deteriorates to the rhythm of its inhabitants. However, Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, Aeris and many other characters will try to reverse the situation. Through the official Twitter account, Square Enix has shown a little more about Cloud, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy VII Remake, one of the most anticipated games in Japan.
“What is done is done,” says the character in one of his characteristic phrases. Man of action, Cloud hides a stormy past that we discover as the story progresses. Like many of the protagonists of the saga, the character evolves and discovers himself next to the player. This remake incorporates new dialogues and cinematic scenes that try to reinforce not only the story, but also the relationship of the characters with other protagonists.

The new Cloud according to its screenwriter
Katsuhige Nojima is one of the veteran members of the Squaresoft team, currently Square Enix. He was part of the main team of Final Fantasy VII and works as a screenwriter in the remake. In recent statements, the creative has explained that the new Cloud does not resemble what they did for Advent Children: “He is a fierce-looking young boy who looked at me through the screen with aggressive eyes,” he recalls when he first saw the new design. When rewriting the character, the screenwriter returned to Cloud's past and reflected on “how each of the individual events that were going to happen would affect him”.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is under development exclusively for PlayStation 4. The title will be released in stores next March 3, 2020, and although it will have full experience, it will be just one of the pieces of the entire puzzle. Square Enix has devised the return of Cloud under an episodic model of which many questions remain to be clarified.
