Warner Bros. Animation is working on a new adaptation of the videogame saga; its premiere is expected for the first half of 2020.
Warner Bros. Animation has confirmed the production of a new animated movie based on Mortal Kombat called Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. As The Hollywood Reporter advances, the film will premiere sometime in the first half of 2020 with Joel McHake and Jennifer Carpenter as the main voice contributions for characters such as Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, respectively.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge is being directed by Ethan Spaulding (Batman: Assault on Arkham, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis) under a script run by Jeremy Adams (Supernatural, Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans) taking as I base the videogame saga of Ed Boon and John Tobias; The first one is collaborating as a creative consultant.
The report also includes the name of other actors, who will lend their voices to the rest of the cast of fighters protagonists of the film. That we can confirm: Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang; Patrick Seitz as Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi; Steve Blum as Sub-Zero; Artt Butler as Shang Tsung; Darin De Paul as Quan Chi; Robin Atkin Downes as Kano; David B. Mitchell as Raiden; Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs; Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro; Gray Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi; and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.
Finally, in the productive task we find Rick Morales (Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, Batman vs. Two-Face) as the main producer; Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) as co-producer and Sam Register as executive producer. NetherRealms' Ed Boon is creative consultant.
This series will, therefore, be the second animated adaptation of the Mortal Kombat story; the first was called Mortal Kombat: Conquest back in the 90s with more than twenty chapters. The expanded universe of Mortal Kombat does not end here for the next times, however. By 2021 a new real-action film is already in production, produced by James Wan (Aquaman) and directed by Simon McQoaid.
Regarding Mortal Kombat 11, one of the greatest successes of the fighting videogames scene of the current generation, only a few days ago the first Joker trailer was published, which will be a playable character via paid DLC from this January 28.
