Sony comes out to deny the lies of the last days on the leak of the game and assures that it has already identified the responsible people.
One of the saddest news of the last week was the leak of The Last of Us Part 2, clearly one of the biggest releases of the year. Game director Neil Druckmann himself declared himself to be "heartbroken" while urging fans to avoid spoilers and assuring that even with them the experience is worth it. Poor Druckmann had not only had to delay the launch of the game because of the coronavirus, but also now had to see how the title was gutted on the internet, filling the networks with spoilers and gameplays of a version that was not even the final one. To make matters worse, from some forums Naughty Dog herself has been identified as responsible and it has been commented that the leak came from her own offices, from an employee unhappy with the labor exploitation he suffered in the studio (the famous crunch of the videogames). A false information that now Sony and the developer itself have come to deny.
In a brief statement to Games Industry, Sony has been forceful and has assured that it has already identified where the leaks come from and that, despite all the rumors and gossip these days, none of them has a relationship with Naughty Dog or with the own Sony Interactive Entertainment. The company has declined to comment further as the information is still part of "an ongoing investigation."
Just around the corner
Luckily, The Last of Us Part 2 already has a new release date: June 19, and it has reopened reservations on the PlayStation Store. The game will become one of the most occupied by PS4 (it asks for a minimum space of 100 GB on the hard drive) and will arrive on two Blu-Rays in its physical version, in the manner of Red Dead Redemption 2. Until the long-awaited On the day of departure, Naughty Dog has asked for the collaboration of its users to avoid more spoilers and Sony itself, due to the incident, has patented in the United States a new service to block spoilers. Let's hope there are no more unpleasant surprises until Joel and Ellie return to our consoles.
